Clay Kuih Making Workshops for Seniors at museums
We enhance the lives of seniors, including those with dementia, through hands-on activities that spark memories, conversations, and improve motor skills. Our programs focus on mental well-being, social engagement, and cognitive health to create meaningful, uplifting experiences.
This immersive experience allows participants to connect with the rich Peranakan culture through hands-on activities. After crafting kuih with clay, they will enjoy traditional kuih snacks, deepening their appreciation of the heritage. To wrap up, participants will create personalized goodie bags adorned with Peranakan motifs, giving them a tangible, culturally-inspired keepsake to take home.
Road Safety Workshop @ Special Needs School
Our 8-week Road Safety Workshop was specifically designed for students with special needs, providing them with essential skills to navigate roads safely. The programme used a structured, sensory-friendly approach, incorporating visual aids, hands-on practice, and real-life scenarios to ensure students understood traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and how to respond to different road environments. Each session was tailored to different learning styles, focusing on repetition, clear communication, and supportive guidance. By the end of the workshop, students felt confident and empowered to make safe, responsible decisions when using the road.
Weekly Sensory Art Programme for Adults at Day Activity Centre
We have been supporting adults with different abilities at SUNDAC with weekly thematic sensory art activities. Last year, their monthly creations were even displayed at a local library that featured different festive events of the month. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more photos and videos.
Sensory Art Programme for Seniors with Dementia
In a series of thematic sensory art programmes, seniors practised their motor and cognitive skills, reminisced about good times, and brought home beautiful handmade crafts.
Knead a Story
We conducted 2 online workshops for SPD Day Activity Center on making 7 types of kueh using play dough. Each participant was given a kit with 3 types of taste-safe scented dough such as coconut and pandan, kueh molds and tools, and a bamboo basket for them to display their creation.
Participants learned about the origins of kueh, cultural meaning, common ingredients used and why, mixing colours, and using different tools to create shapes.
You can purchase the kueh play dough kit in our Happy-Go-Buddy shop.
Playdough-making workshop at SUN-DAC
We had the privilege to work with SUN-DAC to conduct an art-making workshop for its clients with multiple disabilities. We looked at the colours of the ocean, how it changes throughout the day, and sea creatures. They got to choose between 2 scents: lavender and grapefruit to be added to their dough. Guess which is their favourite unanimously? The room is filled with a pleasant and refreshing citrus scent!
